Iyana Lopez registered seven kills, as Greater Lowell volleyball defeated Notre Dame Academy of Tyngsboro, 3-0, Oct. 4.
The Gryphons generated a well-balanced offensive attack. Nellie Chhan cashed in with six kills, while Alanis Valdez and Alexa Furtado each potted a pair as well.
Central Catholic 3, Lowell 2
Kathleen Smith scored 13 service points and three aces, as Central Catholic beat Lowell, 3-2, Oct. 4.
Central took the lead twice, 25-22, 13-25, 25-21, 21-25, before sealing the victory in the tiebreaker, 16-14. Kayleigh Holland had 22 assists and three aces. Sruthvika Kandru collected 15 digs. Francheska Paulino provided eight kills. Ava Pawlus six blocks. With the win, Central improves to 3-7.
Tewksbury 16, Methuen 4
In a MVC II match held at Trull Brok,
Tewksbury evened up its record at 5-5 with a 16-4 win over visiting Methuen High School, in a MVC II match held at Trull Brook, Oct. 4.
Tewksbury was led by seniors John Ragucci (3&2), Brady Lane (2&1), Andrew Della Piana (2&1) and Jason Cooke (3&1), all of whom came away with individual wins. Junior Conor Cremin (2&1) and sophomore Jeremy Insogna (4&3), also reeled in victories. Tewksbury was able to take all four Best Ball matches as well, which helped them come away with the decision. Tewksbury play two more MVC II matches this week on the road traveling to Mt. Pleasant to play Lowell, before heading to to Hickory Hill for a match with Dracut.
