Golf

Tyngsborough 32.5, Groton-Dunstable 21.5

Junior Trevor Drew set a school record with a 5 under par 31 at Sky Meadow in Nashua, to lead the Tigers (3-1-1) to this Mid-Wach crossover victory. Josh Savoie (38) and Brandon St. Gelais (40) also won for Tyngsborough. Ethan Loomis shot the low score for G-D (2-4) despite losing his match to Drew.

 

North Middlesex 31, Littleton 23

The North Middlesex golf team defeated Littleton. 31-23, at Northern Spy Golf Club, Sept. 17.

Littleton medalist Luke Laferty shot a 36 on the par-35 course.

Other notables for North Middlesex included Jake Miller (39), Shawn Amari (40) and Mike Archambault (41).

 

Field Hockey

Chelmsford 5, Westford 0

Lexi D’Angelo scored a pair of goals including the game-winner as Chelmsford field hockey clipped Westford, 5-0, Sept. 17.

The Lions offense roared as Remore Serra netted a goal and an assist. Maddie Preistly, Sarah Latham also garnered goals, while Kate Harrison picked up an assist. Goalkeeper Celia Lupoli had one save to earn the shutout. She was bolstered by the strong defensive play by Sofia Balan and Julia Pitts

Chelmsford takes aim at North Andover, Monday.

 

Lunenburg 3, Fitchburg 0

Autumn Tibbetts tallied the game-winning goal and added an assist, as Lunenburg leveled Fitchburg 3-0.

The Blue Knights were bolstered by goals from Caitlin Ware and Jessica Handy. Erin Peplowski also picked up an assist. Goalie Malia Ruggiero made eight saves to post the shutout 8 saves.

Littleton 4, Bromfield 0

Brittany Iverson scored the hat trick and added an assist, as Littleton beat Broomfield, 3-1.

Amanda Yurkoski garnered a goal and an assist. Goalie Kyra Manseau made five saves enroute to her first shutout. With the win Littleton is now 4-0.

 

Girls Soccer

Greater Lowell 2, Lowell 2

Tyra Medina netted the game-tying goal as Greater Lowell girls soccer tied Lowell, 2-2, Sept. 17.

Medina’s tally came courtesy of a header, off an Emily Sandelli corner with seven minutes remaining in regulation. Emily Sandelli scored a goal and added an assist. Julia Canario made eight saves, 8 saves, while assisting on Sandelli’s goal.

Westford 1, Weston 0

Tamar Almasian scored off of a corner kick as Westford dropped Weston, 1-0.

Almasian’s game-winner was set up by Isabel Doherty, 18 minutes into the first half. WA outshot Weston 15-3. Playing well Westford was Grace Caroll, Carly Davey, Isabella Balatka, and Sarah Kirby. Kiani Banard Pratt had three saves in net for the shutout.

 

Volleyball

Greater Lowell 3, Lowell Catholic 0

Nellie Chhan scored 10 service points, three kills, and three aces, as the Greater Lowell volleyball team topped Lowell Catholic, 3-0, Sept. 17.

The Crusaders won in straight sets 25-16, 25-9, 25-23. Setter Alexa Furtado was fantastic with 10 assists and two kills. Iyana Lopez had six kills, Casey Ziemba seven kills, and great defensive play by Jesyl Alcantaro. Madi Franz had 13 kills and six aces for Lowell Catholic, while Bri Delucia chipped in with 23 assists.

 

Acton Boxboro 3, Westford 1

Acton Boxboro bested Westford, 3-1.

Trailing 25-19 after the initial set, Westford battled back in the second match 25-21, before dropping the next two 29-27, 25-21.

Junior outside hitter Katherine Crane had 10 kills in the loss. Senior outside hitter Jordan Krauss collected 14 kills and three aces.

 

North Andover 3, Billerica 1

Billerica lost to North Andover, 3-1.

Trailing 25-16 after the first set, the Indians regrouped winning the rematch 25-22, before bowing out to the Scarlet Knights in the next two sets. 25-18, 25-20. Stephanie Sardella had nine kills in the loss. Naomi Boldebuck had four kills.

Lowell 3, Chelmsford 2

Natalia Giampa garnered 25 digs and six aces, as Chelmsford was clipped by Lowell, 3-2.

The Lions went the distance with Lowell, bowing out in the fifth and final match. Sammy Kelepouris was clutch dishing 28 assists, two aces, and a kill.

Emma Taylor tallied eight kills, 10 digs and four aces. Kelly Enwright earned 11 digs, three aces, and three kills.

 

Boys soccer

Westford 2, Weston 0

Aidan Mahony buried the game-winner, as Westford boys soccer topped Weston, 2-0, Sept. 17.

Mahoney gave the team the 1-0 lead at halftime, off a feed from Jonathan Colley. Ryan DiPietro was then set up by Aidan Stafford in the second stanza to pad the lead. Goalie Michael Lucente made six saves in the first half, while Tom Kohen made five stops in the second half sharing the shutout. Westford also got strong play from Tejas Kudva, Lucas Albuquerque, Chris Sell and Marley Perez-Adler.

North Andover 74, Chelmsford 101

The North Andover swimming team battled it out with Chelmsford, 74-101, at the Lowell YMCA, Sept. 17.
