Lowell Junior High Football picks up two wins – Lowell Sun
The Lowell Junior High Football program picked up two big wins over the weekend.
Grade 7/8 Raiders 34 Manchester 26
Ryan Conley scored a pair of touchdowns, as Lowell’s Grade 7/8 Raiders mauled Manchester, 34-26.
Conley was one of four Red Raiders to find the endzone, with Anthony Perez, Noah Florence and Seth Ly, also scoring touchdowns in the victory.
The team was backed by some strong offensive support from Maverick Paquette, Gabe Cuertas, Isiah Hardin and Jarrod Tapia. The defense also managed to keep Manchester at arms-length with Collin Christiansen, Lucas Mcteague and Nathaniel Rom, getting the job done.
With the win, the team improved to 2-0.
Grade 7/8 Riverhawks 18, Manchester 8
Andrew Barrios broke through for a key touchdown, as Lowell’s Grade 7/8 Riverhawks ran over Manchester 18-8.
Barrios was one of three Riverhawks to earn their red zone wings, with Josh Amankwah and Sean Dolan, also scoring touchdowns in the win.
The squad got a great team effort from its offensive line, which included Matt Casey, Johenrique Lanes, Landon Lane, Mason Nieves, Joey Doucett and Ricky Phom. The defense also did its job with Neo Ocasio, Andrew Aide and Nashawn Mitchell, holding the opposition to one TD.
Meanwhile, in the elementary school ranks, another team appears on the rise.
Grade 5/6 Lowell 20, Portsmouth 6
Jimmie Pritts plowed his way to a touchdown, as Lowell’s Grade 5/6 squad peppered Portsmouth, 20-6.
Pritts was among a power trio that entered the endzone for Lowell, with Michael Casey and Hayco Costa, also scoring. Trayvon Nyahn added a pivotal two-point conversion play, giving his team the decided advantage. The defensive line held their opponents in check, with Terrance Lim, Zayden Burks, Malakye Phakonekhan, Logan Khakeo and Isaiah Diaz, holding the fort, enroute to its first win of the season.
