Reprieve from the rain today, but pattern remains unsettled for the weekend | Weather
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A nice break from the rain today along with sunshine and hot, humid, summer weather!
We remain warm and humid through the evening and stay mild and muggy tonight with lows falling into the upper 60s for most. We shouldn’t get nearly as foggy overnight and skies remain mostly clear to partly cloudy with a light southerly breeze.
Another hot and humid day on tap to end the week with temperatures returning to around 90 in the lower valley Friday afternoon. Dew points remain high as we are ahead of a cold front and a strong high pressure system off the Southeast coast continues to pump in moisture. During the mid afternoon, it may feel more like middle or even upper 90s in spots!
Scattered showers and thunderstorms also return Friday afternoon with a low risk for severe wind gusts and isolated flooding.
Flooding may be a concern heading into the weekend as a slow-moving front lingers over New England. Spotty showers are possible Saturday morning, then showers and thunderstorms should be around much of the afternoon and evening.
A batch of rain may come through late Saturday into Sunday morning with an area of low pressure and some of that rain may be heavy as well. If this forecast holds, flash flood watches may be issued.
A few showers linger Sunday and Monday as the front moves to the south coast. Temperatures get closer to normal, but humidity remains high. Sunshine should return Tuesday, but another front approaches from the north with some showers and storms for late in the day. The front moves through Wednesday, which will also keep the day unsettled.
By late-week, there are signs of a cooler, less humid air mass coming down from Canada.
