Tyngsboro golf place fourth an D2 Central Tourney
Trevor Drew finished in third as an individual, guiding the Tyngsboro golf team to a fourth-place finish at the MIAA Division 2 Central Tournament, at Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham.
The Tigers tallied 331 points in the 13-team tournament, which featured a best four out of six, stroke play format. The team fell just two strokes behind third place club Advanced Math and Science Academy, and a chance to advance to the state finals next week.
Concord-Carlisle finished first overall, with Medfield also advancing. A junior, Drew finished in third as an individual and will advance as an individual to the Division 2 State Championship, which will be played at Sandy Burr in Wayland next week. Connor St. Gelais (82), Josh Savoie (87), and Ian Barton (87) also shot well for Tyngsboro.
Shawsheen scores sixth at State Sectional
The Shawsheen golf team finished sixth at the State Sectionals, wrapping up the 2021 season.
Tyler Tsoukalas (88) and Matt Tramonte (89) led the way for the Rams. They were backed by the play of Sean Schlehuber (96), Colin Lawson (99), Liam Milne (102) and Brendan Lee (107).
The Westford Volleyball team made short work of Waltham, 3-0.
The Grey Ghosts haunted Waltham on the home court, winning in straight sets 25-11, 25-11, 25-14 to take the victory.
Wilmington 2, Wakefield 0
In other action, the Wilmington field hockey team worked over Wakefield, 2-0.
