Men's squash wins one of three matches in western Massachusetts – Hamilton College


The Hamilton College Continentals won one out of three matches over the weekend at Williams College and Amherst College in western Massachusetts.

Hamilton’s overall record stands at 3-6 after the Continentals lost 9-0 to the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday night and 9-0 to Amherst on Saturday afternoon, and defeated Haverford College 9-0 on Saturday evening. Hamilton is 28th in the College Squash Overall Team Rankings while Navy (10-4 record) is 25th, Amherst (5-3) is 17th and Haverford (4-4) is 30th.

Tate Suratt ’24, Waleed Nisar ’24 and Rufus Somerby ’22 swept their Haverford opponents at the top of the ladder. Somerby picked up his 17th career win with the Continentals.

Ashby Howard ’25, William Rice ’24 and Nicholas Carabatsos ’24 were winners against Haverford in the middle of the ladder. All three have three victories this season.

Tate Burgin ’25, Simon Muller ’25 and Blake Davis ’25 were winners in three games at the bottom of the ladder. Muller leads the team with five victories. Burgin played a five-game, 52-minute match in his loss to an Amherst opponent at the seventh position.

The Continentals return home to Little Squash Center for a match against Dickinson College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.
