CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some wintry weather could slow down Friday morning’s commute. The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties until 7 p.m. Friday for accumulating snow that could create slippery conditions.

A mix of rain and snow will develop across western Massachusetts early Friday morning. Most of the mixed precipitation will change to snow.

Prepare for a snowy Friday morning commute. Snow will continue into the early afternoon. Temperatures will be at or above freezing during the daylight hours on Friday so it will be difficult for snow to accumulate on paved and treated surfaces. Regardless, plan on extra time to drive to your destination on Friday. A light accumulation of snow is likely. Snow will end between 1-4 p.m. from west to east. Highs will be around 40 degrees.

How much snow are we getting Friday:

The last measurable snow was on December 23rd with it only in communities with higher elevation such as Huntington with 4 inches.
