WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – High school seniors at Westfield High School learned budgeting and savings skills at the Credit for Life Fair on Friday.
The seniors were told to pretend that they are 25 years old for the day and choose a career and received a credit score. Their chosen career came with an annual salary, and the goal for each student was to visit over 15 booths.
Some examples of the booths that they visited are housing, transportation, clothing, utilities, food & nutrition, and more. After each senior visited all of the booths, they had to check out to see how they managed their monthly spending.
Leann Libanan, a Westfield High School student, told 22News, “It’s hard for like a lot of people, which is why I am glad they are having this today. It’s really interactive and it’s pretty fun to like learn about a bunch of credit stuff because I mean they don’t really teach this stuff a lot in class.”
Friday’s fair was hosted by Westfield Bank, the Credit for Life is a Massachusetts-based program designed to prepare high school students for a successful financial future.
