Robert “Bob” E. Sheehan, 92, passed away on April 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the Jupiter Care Center, Jupiter FL. He was born in Springfield on June 3, 1930, to the late Daniel J. and Theresa (Triggs) Sheehan. Bob graduated from Springfield Technical High School and then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from AIC. He was Account Executive at the NCR Corporation for 37 years before his retirement.
Throughout his life Bob was an enthusiastic sports fan of his favorite Massachusetts teams: Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Boston Celtics. In retirement he divided his time between Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, serving for years on the Home Owners Association, and the Great Sacandaga Lake, New York where he enjoyed gardening and boating with family and friends.
Bob is predeceased by his parents and his son-in-law Richard A. Benedict. In addition, Bob was predeceased by two brothers John J. Sheehan and Daniel Francis Sheehan and two sisters Rita Ellen Bagley and Mary Theresa Sullivan. He is survived by his wife and best friend Eleanor M. (Sullivan) Sheehan, his son Kevin Sheehan and his wife Kathleen of Westfield, his daughters Karen A. Benedict, Teresa Wilkinson and her husband Jeri, two grandchildren Lauren Sheehan and Neil Sheehan, sister-in-law Patricia (Sullivan) Keough, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be on Sunday May 7, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm at Sampsons Family Chapels 21 Tinkham Rd. Springfield MA 01129. A liturgy of Christian burial will take place on Monday May 8, 2023, at 11am at St Thomas the Apostle Church 47 Pine St. West Springfield MA 01089. Rites of Committal to follow at St Thomas Cemetery Kings Highway West Springfield. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York 10065, or to a charity of choice.
