Maureen H. Dion
1943 – 2023
West Springfield
After a brief illness Maureen H. Dion (Signet) entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2023. She survived unbeatable odds after battling metastatic colon cancer in 2002. We were blessed to have her for an additional twenty-one years. She was a graduate from Cathedral High School in 1961. Maureen was a lifelong resident of West Springfield. She was a Eucharistic minister for most of her adult life; most of that service was at Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. She was an active member of Al anon for years. Maureen also spent 28 years camping at Partridge Hollow Camp Ground in Monson. She worked at the former Providence Hospital as a child care technician and for the former West Springfield Nursing Home in the Activities department. Later in life she returned to school for cosmetology and worked at Nina’s Beauty Salon in West Springfield, retiring in 2001. She was an avid knitter, just ask anyone that received a pair of her handmade socks. She loved visits to Cape Cod and visiting her twin sister in California. Maureen was a season ticket holder at the Majestic Theater and enjoyed many plays there.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her daughters, Catherine Handler and her husband, Donald of Oakdale, CT, and Patricia Clements and her husband, Donald of Wilbraham, MA. She was a devoted grandmother to Joshua and Zachary Handler, Jacob Clements and his fiancé, Leah Domonique, Victoria Langlois and her fiancé, Patrick Feeley, and she was a devoted great grandmother “Gigi” to Graham Langlois.
