With great sadness the family of Edward Fydenkevez announces his unexpected passing on May 6.2023. Born to the late Anthony and Sophie (Rabinski) Fydenkevez in Holyoke, Edward was raised and educated in Hadley. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. Edward wed the love of his life Barbara Buckowski and they spent seventy wonderful years together watching their family grow and prosper. Edward worked as a truck driver for Sweet Life Foods. He logged more than 1 million miles on the road before retiring. Edward was a true family man, and his home was his castle. He took great pride in his garden and yard, enjoying every minute of it. He could often could be found in his garage, tinkering on his latest project. Edward liked to travel and enjoyed baseball. His most treasured times were those he spent with his family. He never let an opportunity past to attend a sporting event of any of his grandchildren. He had great love for his wife and his family which only grew stronger as the years passed. In his family’s eyes he was their hero and will be greatly missed.
Surviving Edward are his three devoted daughters Deborah Belniak and her husband Robert, Cynthia Moretto and her husband Robert, and Donna Bates and her husband Robert. To cherish his memory, he leaves his adored grandchildren Carolyn, Alan, Miranda, Anthony, Daniel, Nicole, Amber and his precious five great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and countless friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara in 2022. Edward is also survived by his brother Joseph and sister Ginger. He was preceded by his sister, Elaine and brother Richard.
Calling hours for Edward will be held on Sunday May 14,2023 from 4-7 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street in Agawam. Family and friends will gather on Monday May 15,2023 at 9 A.M. and proceed to St John the Evangelist Church for a 10 A.M. liturgy of Christian burial followed by committal services at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery
