Gloria M. (Spadoni) Marchand, 96, died after a short illness on May 14, 2023. Gloria was born in Springfield MA on September 3, 1926 to the late Ferdinando and Dina (Tombari) Spadoni. One of four children, Gloria grew up in Springfield and promptly went to work in local shops to help her family. She went on to work in the Kiley Middle School in Springfield as a cafeteria worker. She enjoyed her daily interactions with students, and after many years continued her career in the Springfield Schools as a bus monitor in the Lower Pioneer Valley Collaborative until her retirement. Always keeping busy, Gloria and her sister Jennie worked together in Bradlees Department Store. Gloria cherished her faith and family. She was a fabulous baker, keeping to the old world recipes for custard cream puffs and delicious pizellie’s. She loved her kittens and cats, and always had a soft spot for animals. She will be deeply missed by her children Gloria Roberts and her partner Ron Castro, Joanne Marchand and Ronald Marchand, her grandchildren Dina Bevivino and her husband Jim and Khristopher Roberts and his wife Corinne, her two great grandsons William and Garrett Roberts and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald Marchand, her brothers Lindy and Libby Spadoni and her sister Jennie Bevivino. Her family would like to thank the staff at Baystate East 2 for all of their attentive and loving care. Her visitation will be held on Sunday May 21, 2023 from 4pm – 6pm in Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 45 Locust St., Springfield MA. Her funeral will be on Monday May 23, 2023 at 9am in the funeral home. Her Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield. Burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made in Gloria’s name to an animal charity of one’s choice.
