Margaret M. Beek
1942 – 2023
EAST LONGMEADOW
Margaret M. Beek, 80, passed away on May 18, 2023 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Springfield, MA on May 29, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Margaret C. (Connell) Joyce. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Harold F. Beek and her daughter Maura Forsyth.
Known as “Margie or Marge” by friends and family, and a lifelong Springfield area resident, many were influenced and touched by her infectious light. She attended Sacred Heart High School where she made wonderful friendships that lasted a lifetime. Margie’s youth also included memorable times spent at the Berkshire Inn, the family’s business located in Great Barrington, MA. Most importantly, it was here that she met Harold, who became the love of her life.
Her ability to care for others was exhibited during her 25 years of employment at the NICU unit at Baystate Medical Center. While working there, everyone she met and worked with benefitted from her welcoming nature and exuberant energy.
Margie loved the beach, and especially summer vacations in Maine. These trips were opportunities to make memories with her beloved family while sharing her love of the beach. There was nothing that Margie valued more than family and friends. Her unconditional love for her immediate and extended family was endless.
To cherish her memory, Margie leaves her sons Joseph E. Beek and his wife Barbara of Mashpee, MA and Stephen J. Beek and his wife Tiffany of East Longmeadow; her son-in-law Sean Forsyth; her grandchildren Jeb and Caroline Beek, Jack Forsyth, and Ashley, Catelyn, and Lyla Beek; her sister Cele Joy and her husband Jim, as well as her nieces and beloved friends.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to all the health care professionals that cared for Margie and supported her family in recent years.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.
