PLAINVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — A fire erupted at a YMCA Family Pool Club in Plainville Saturday afternoon.
ABC 6 News crews were on the scene at Berry Street where the shell of a building stood charred, sustaining heavy smoke and fire damage.
The Plainville Fire Department said at approximately 5 p.m., they responded to the building and saw heavy fire showing.
Crews said they called in help from nearby towns including North Attleboro, Wrentham, Norfolk, Foxboro and Cumberland, R.I., as well as ambulances from Walpole and Mansfield.
In videos shared with ABC 6 News, firefighters can be seen attacking the blaze from all angles as the building burnt.
Fire officials deemed the building a total loss, also noting that it was under renovation.
“The pool club is a beloved community gathering spot for many families here in Plainville during the summertime,” Fire Chief Ball said.
“Thankfully no one was hurt, but it’s very unfortunate that the fire resulted in a total loss of the building,” he concluded.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
