No. 2 Central defeated No. 7 Agawam, 11-1, in the first round of the Western Mass. Class A baseball tournament on Tuesday.
Julio Solier Ramos led the way on offense for the Golden Eagles, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBIs, and three stolen bases. Eliezer Rosario pitched five innings for Central, struck out 12, and gave up two hits along with two walks.
Central will play No. 2 West Springfield in the semifinal round on Thursday.
Class C Baseball: No. 5 Lenox (7), No. 4 McCann Tech (4)
No. 5 Lenox defeated No. 4 McCann Tech in the Western Mass Class C quarterfinals on Tuesday, 7-4 in extra innings.

Class D Baseball: No. 5 Granby 4, No. 4 Mount Everett 3
Despite a three-run double from Nathaniel VonRuden during the seventh inning of Tuesday’s Western Massachusetts Class D quarterfinals, the No. 5 Granby baseball team fended off No. 4 Mount Everett for a 4-3 win.
Daniel Gauvin allowed two hits, one earned run and struck out 12 during 6.2 innings for the Rams, while Andrew Feldman earned the one-out save despite relinquishing two more earned runs. Joshua Chateauneuf paced the offense with a 2-for-3 showing that included a triple.
Heyden Cutlip only allowed six hits, four earned runs and struck out five across seven innings as the Eagles moved to 10-8.
Granby improved to 8-10 and will remain on the road against No. 1 Pioneer Valley in the sectional semifinals, scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m.
