Shea Hurley threw a no-hitter to lead No. 1 Westfield past No. 5 Minnechaug, 6-0, on Thursday.
The win improves the Bombers’ overall record to 17-1 and pushes the program into the Western Mass. Class A championship, where it’ll play either No. 2 Agawam or No. 3 East Longmeadow.
Kelsey Bouchard led Westfield’s offense on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs. Kenzie Raymond went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Behind 15 strikeouts and a trio of hits from Madison Liimatainen, the No. 1 Turners Falls softball team defeated No. 4 Mount Everett 9-1 during Thursday’s Western Massachusetts Class D semifinals.
Madisyn Dietz (2-for-3) paced the Thunder with three RBIs, while Morgan Dobias (two) and Holly Meyers (one) combined for three of their own.
Eagles starting pitcher Julia Devoti allowed four walks and struck out six in a losing effort, while Emma Goewey earned a run-scoring single. Tonilyn Smith and Emily Steuernagle rounded out their team’s three hits.
After defeating No. 8 Pioneer Valley in the quarterfinals and now Mount Everett, Turners Falls (12-7) will face the winner of Friday’s matchup between No. 6 Lenox and No. 2 Hopkins in the sectional championship on a time and date to be announced.
