Patricia “Pat” (Dionne) Fuller a longtime resident of North Kingstown/Saunderstown, passed away May 23, 2023 due to complications from ALS. Pat was a devoted wife to the late Robert W. Fuller and they were married for 62 years and 3 days at the time of his passing September 30, 2020.

Pat was born November 23, 1934 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Henry and Jeannette Dionne. Pat spent many of her early summer days helping her father at the “Dionne Ice Cream Company” in Lynn, MA. She learned to knit as a child from her Grandmother and continued doing so until her 80’s. She was “famous” for knitting afghans, sweaters, mittens, children’s hats and even golf club covers. Pat graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame High School, Tyngsboro, MA and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA where she made many lifelong friendships. It was here that she met her husband Bob at a Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity party. Pat later attended Rhode Island College earning her Masters of Teaching degree in 1975.

In their early years of marriage, Pat and Bob lived in several towns, including Danbury CT, Allentown, PA and East Greenwich, RI before eventually settling in North Kingstown around 1965 and Saunderstown in 1979. She began her teaching career in the 1960’s at the non-profit HELP Nursery School (Hands Extended to Little People) on Brown Street, Wickford, RI and did so for 25 years. It was not uncommon many years later for people to stop her in stores to tell her she was their favorite teacher. She often said she became a teacher for the hugs!

Throughout the years Pat served on many boards and committees but was especially proud of her time serving on the Board of Trustees with the North Kingstown Library, the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum and she worked at the polls for 25 years from 1972 to 1997, first as a supervisor, and later as a moderator and as Chair of The North Kingstown Board of Canvassers from 1997 to 2022. Pat was also a member of the Plum Beach Club for 44 years, an avid lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan and a lover of hummingbirds. While she moved to Florida in 2022 to be near her sons, she always considered herself a New Englander through and through.

Pat is survived by her two sons Robert W. Fuller Jr. (Christine) The Villages, FL and Matthew D. Fuller, Tampa, FL. She is also survived by her two sisters Linda Smet (Robert) Glastonbury, CT and Paulette Krieder, Torrance, CA and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10 am – 11 am with a funeral service to follow at 11 am on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. Her interment will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
