Michael Gagnon
Port Orange, FL – Michael J. Gagnon, 81 of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Florence, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Halifax Hospital on May 14, 2023. He was born September 27, 1941 to the late Ernest and Margaret (Devlin) Gagnon. Mike attended Smith Vocational High School in Northampton, MA, graduating in 1959. Mike met his wife Cindy (Haramut) and they married in October, 1962. They were married sixty years. Mike was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. In the early sixties, Mike was self-employed as à Logger, owning his own Autocar log truck. In the mid-sixties, he worked at J.W. Parsons in Hatfield, MA until they closed. His final job was working for United Parcel Service in West Springfield, MA, which is where he retired from in 1996. Mike had many interests but was known mostly for restoring Model A Fords. Four of the Model As that he restored and worked on were national winners throughout the country. Mike built himself a 1934 Ford Coupe, which he and Cindy enjoyed at car shows for many years. Mike and Cindy retired and moved to Port Orange in October, 1996. They got involved with various local “cruise nights” with their 1934 Ford Coupe, nicknamed “MyCin”. They met a lot of people who became good friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter Victoria Novotny and her husband Thomas of Southampton, MA; his brother Thomas Gagnon of Florence; sister Katherine Gagnon of Florence; Grandchildren Thomas Novotny, Jr., of Southampton, MA; Paige Novotny of Westhampton, MA; Michael Radzuik of Erving, MA; and Hannah Gagnon of Westhampton, MA; a great granddaughter Nora Radzuik of Erving, MA; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Gagnon in 2021. Burial and a graveside service will be held for Mike at Assumption Cemetery in Leeds, Massachusetts at the convenience of the family.
