Saturday’s roundup: Hamden Hall repeats as New England Small School champs


Hamden Hall 4, Winchendon (Mass.) 3: Gavin Lyons allowed no earned runs and struck out nine and Amato Civitello earned the save for the Hamden Hall baseball team, which repeated as New England Small School Baseball champions, winning the championship Saturday at Worcester, Massachusetts.

Brady Chernovetz went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Hornets (18-0), the regular season champions and tournament finalists in the Fairchester Athletic Association. Hamden hall scored the deciding run in the bottom of the fifth inning ona bases-loaded walk by Kaleb Cohen.

Lyons finished the season at 10-0 with a 0.62 ERA.

Softball

O’Brien Tech 13, Norwich Tech 1 (5): MeKenzie Revere tossed a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts to help O’Brien Tech win its third consecutive CTC championship Friday at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.

Stephanie Tamburrino and Nyana Torres combined for three triples for O’Brien Tech (20-3). Marley Orosz, Cloe Tomasella, Emma Brower each added two hits. Norwich Tech dropped to 19-4.
