Five $100,000 lottery prizes were won across Massachusetts on Saturday, four of which were won from the same game.
Four of the $100,000 awards were won from the “Mass Cash” game, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery’s website. The winning tickets were bought at the following stores: 7-Eleven in Lawrence, Nouria in Bedford, Pride gas station and store in East Longmeadow and Richdale Convenience in Stoneham.
To play “Mass Cash,” players pay $1 and select five numbers between one and 35, either manually or through the Quic Pic lottery computer system. Drawings take place daily at 9 p.m.
The odds of winning $100,000, the highest prize in “Mass Cash,” are one in 324,632. To win the top award, players have to match all five of their numbers to the winning numbers.
The fifth $100,000 prize scored Saturday was won from the “Powerball” lottery game. That individual’s winning ticket was bought at Sons of Revere in Revere.
To play “Powerball,” players must select five numbers between one and 69 and one Powerball number between one and 26, either manually or through the Quic Pic lottery computer system. Each play costs $2, but each player can multiply all non-jackpot prizes up to 10 times for an extra $1 per play, per drawing. Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
The odds of winning the top prize in “Powerball,” the jackpot, are one in more than 292 million. The odds of winning $50,000, which can be multiplied by two to get the $100,000 award, are on in 913,129.18.
The five winners of the $100,000 prizes were not the only lucky lottery players in Massachusetts this week. On Thursday, a $100,000 prize was won from a “Mass Cash” ticket bought at People’s Super Liquor Stores in Fairhaven. On Wednesday, a winning $1 million lottery ticket sold from a convenience store in Holyoke was claimed, and on Monday, three $100,000 prizes were claimed from the same game, “$15,000,000 Money Maker.”
Every day, the State Lottery releases a list of all the winning tickets worth more than $600 sold in Massachusetts. Overall, there were 201 winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 sold in the state Saturday, including four in Springfield, eight in Worcester and 15 in Boston.
The two biggest lottery prizes won in Massachusetts so far this year were the $33 million and $31 million Mega Millions jackpots. The tickets were each sold a week apart.
The $33 million ticket for the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing was bought at a Stop & Shop in Belchertown, and the winner eventually claimed their prize on March 1 through the Skylark Group Trust.
The $31 million jackpot was won on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The winning ticket was bought at a Gibbs gas station in Woburn, and the winner did not claim their prize until March 8 through S & L Trust.
