Thamesville’s Lucas Vanroboys of Bentley University was named to the College Sports Communicators’ NCAA Division I academic all-district men’s team.

Vanroboys played four hockey seasons at Bentley. He set career-highs this season with 16 assists and 20 points in 32 games.

He majored in economics-finance with minors in entrepreneurship and marketing. He earned two consecutive All-America Scholar honours from the American Hockey Coaches Association and three straight Atlantic Hockey all-academic team recognitions.

Vanroboys transferred to the University of Massachusetts for his final NCAA season.

Myers, Noah lead Red Devils to win

Ty Myers and Colton Noah scored hat tricks in the Wallaceburg Red Devils’ 16-3 win over the Point Edward Pacers on Sunday in the Ontario Jr. B Lacrosse League.

Jeff MacKinnon scored two goals and Mason Jacobs made 34 saves at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

Cohen Veenstra, Kaelen Smith, Landon Allaer, Shaun Glover-Noah, Reese Sands, Reece Parker, Brayden Sands and Kanton Verstraeten also scored as the Red Devils improved to 3-8.

The Red Devils held a pre-game ceremony honouring alumnus Matt Cousins, who died in a car crash May 21. He played five seasons with the team from 2015 to 2019.

His family and about 25 former teammates joined both teams for the ceremony.

On Friday, Smith and Warren Everett scored in the Red Devils’ 13-2 road loss to the Six Nations Rebels.

The Red Devils host the Windsor Clippers at 8 p.m. Thursday, visit the Elora Mohawks on Saturday and host Six Nations at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Attack’s St. Pierre scores two goals

Nate St. Pierre’s two goals led the Chatham Attack to a 5-1 home win over the London Thunder on Saturday in the Western Ontario Soccer League’s First Division.

Macks Holmes, Taylor Broad and Brandon Foster also scored for the Attack, who led 2-0 at halftime. Winning goalie Trevor Niven stopped a penalty shot.

The Attack (1-0-1) visit Taxandria on Friday.

Borovicanin nets two for Express

Stefan Borovicanin scored twice in the Chatham Express’s 4-3 win over the Caribbean Stars on Friday in the Western Ontario Soccer League’s Premier Division.

Tyler Szabo and Alex Bernardi also scored for the Express (2-2-0). They visit the London German Canadians on Sunday.

Bertozzi celebrates second feature win

West Bertozzi won the mini mods feature for the second consecutive week at Southern Ontario Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Gregg Haskell won the late models feature, Tim Richardson won the modifieds feature and Steve Shaw won the thunderstocks feature.

Carleton, Lynx fall to Las Vegas Aces

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton had two points and three rebounds in the Minnesota Lynx’s 94-73 road loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday.

The Lynx are last in the WNBA with a 0-4 record. They visit the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, host the Connecticut Sun on Thursday and visit the Washington Mystics on Saturday.
