Salvatore Adornetto Obituary (1934 – 2023) – Pittsfield, MA – The Berkshire Eagle


Salvatore “Sam” Adornetto, 89, of Pittsfield Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Sam was born March 12, 1934 to Marie & Joseph Spadaro Adornetto. He was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School and served as a Fire Fighter for the city of Pittsfield for nearly 20 years.

Sam won many amateur Athletic Union titles in New England for both bodybuilding and powerlifting. He held the Mr. New England Physique Title and Middleweight Weightlifting Champion in 1957. He was a past member of Pittsfield Elks Lodge, ITAM, and Italian American Club. Sam was proud of his Sicilian heritage and continuously shared it with his family and friends.

Sam is survived by his wife of 59 years Judith (Hoffman) Adornetto. He leaves behind his children Joseph Adornetto (Onchiota), Marie Kuhn (James), and Jason Adornetto (Lorraine). He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Amanda Marie Adornetto, Hayden and Ryan Kuhn, Nicolas Salvatore, Vincent Joseph, and Olivia Marie Adornetto.

Sam-“Nanu” to his 6 grandchildren– was a dedicated father and grandfather. He was actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives, attending nearly every sporting event they participated in. He made an effort to extend his positive influence and good character to his children’s and grandchildren’s childhood friends. Sam set a gracious example for how a man should conduct himself. His legacy will live on through the many younger people to whom he served as a mentor..

Funeral Notice:

Funeral services for Salvatore “Sam” Adornetto will be Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11 am at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. There will be an hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the service, from 10 am to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
