Normand O. Boucher, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023, at his home in East Hampton, CT, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 89 years old.
Normand, affectionately known as “Norm,” was born on July 17, 1934, in Burlington, VT, the second son of Emile and Yvonne Boucher. He grew up in North Adams, MA. Normand served our country with honor and distinction during the Cold War as a Minuteman Missile Silo Technician in the US Army. He was a member of the Army Reserves and was recalled to active duty when the Berlin Wall was constructed. Upon his deactivation, he received a second Honorable Discharge, marking the end of his military career.
After his military service, Norm settled in East Hampton, where he resided for over 54 years. He dedicated 29 years of his life to Pratt & Whitney before retiring. Normand had a passion for bird watching and was an avid reader, often visiting the local town library. He also enjoyed spending time at the East Hampton Senior Center. Throughout his life, Normand worked hard to support and care for his family, always ready to share a story or a joke. He and his second wife, Agnes “Aggie” Boucher, loved to travel and spend time with family.
Normand was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Markham, and his second wife, Agnes “Aggie” Boucher. He is survived by his children and their families: Steven Boucher and Melissa Norton, Paul and Michele Boucher, Michelle and Wayne Culbert, and Thomas Boucher and Kelly Sullivan-Barrett. Normand was a proud grandfather to Jacquelyne Boucher, Jason Culbert, Emily Culbert, and Corey Boucher. He is also survived by his sisters, Jane Schumacher and Ruth Delude, as well as his brothers, Richard Boucher and Donald Boucher.
A graveside service will be held to honor Normand’s life at St. Patrick’s Church, located at 47 W High St, East Hampton, CT 06424, on Monday, August 7th, at 6:00 pm.
