Katherine B. Austin, 60, of Agawam, formerly of Springfield, passed away early Saturday morning, October 28, 2023 with her loving daughter by her side. Katherine was born and raised in Springfield, MA on December 3, 1962 the daughter of the late Maurice & Bridget (Walsh) Austin. She owned and operated her own home health care and hospice business for many years. Kathy is survived by her loving daughter, Kalyn B. Austin along with her significant other, Erik Munkittrick of Chicopee; two granddaughters, Aubrie and Rylie; 5 siblings, Lynda Marotte, Steven Austin, Barbara Kennedy, Gerald Austin, and Brian Austin; three nieces, Rochelle, Toni, and Kristina; her BFF of 40 years, Michelle McLaughlin; her honorary daughter, Erica Stanton along with her daughter, Angelina; and her cherished four legged dog & companion, Teddy. She was predeceased by her sister, MaryEllen Austin and a brother-in-law, Wayne Marotte. Kathy was blessed with a wonderful extended family and many lifelong friends who will miss her dearly. She loved spending time with her loving family and friends, especially with her two granddaughters. Kathy enjoyed relaxing on the beach, numerous trips to the casino, and taking care of countless others in which she did for over 30 years. Katherine will be remembered for her amazing heart of gold, legendary cackle, incredible sense of humor, and infamous hair. Katherine’s burial will be private and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Sr. Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 011104. Arrangements are by the Byron Keenan Funeral Home of Springfield.
