Luisa Goncalves
1963 – 2023
Ludlow
Luisa Goncalves, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on 11/11/2023. She was born on 4/8/1963 in Granja, Portugal to Beatriz and Antonio Matos. She had the lifelong pleasure of two loving sisters, Margarida and Conceicao, and brother, Domingos.
Luisa’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, humor, and a touch of sarcasm. On June 13, 1987, she embarked on a lifelong journey of love and partnership, marrying Antonio Goncalves. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two sons, Kris and Ryan, and welcoming a precious grandson, Pierce, into their lives.
Luisa graduated from Ludlow High School in 1981 and continued her education with courses at Springfield Technical Community College. Throughout her professional life, Luisa made significant contributions to various companies, showcasing her talents as an Administrative Assistant. Her dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley, Landmark Realtors, and Alves Fuel.
Beyond her career, she was an active member of her community. She served as PTO president for East Street Elementary School, dedicating her time and energy to enhancing the educational experience for students. She was also a passionate advocate for charitable causes, raising donations and participating in walks for Autism Speaks.
But life wasn’t all about the grind for Luisa. She was a maestro in the art of relaxation, finding solace in the drama-filled worlds of Hallmark and Lifetime movies. Her love for these cinematic masterpieces knew no bounds, providing a perfect escape from the rigors of reality.
Luisa’s zest for life was reflected in her favorite color, purple, which she embraced with style and grace. When not dancing, listening to music, shopping, or indulging in movie marathons, Luisa found bliss in the sun and sand. Her vacations to Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach were nothing “short” of legendary for a woman of such height, filled with laughter, sunburns, and a “tall” quest for the perfect beach read. Her vibrant spirit and enthusiasm for life were evident in her diverse interests.
Luisa’s heart was not reserved for humans alone; it extended to her feline companion, Simba, and her four grand furbabies, with a special place in her heart for Pretzel, the Weiner dog extraordinaire.
Her infectious laughter, quick wit, and penchant for sarcasm brightened the lives of those around her. Luisa Goncalves may have left this world, her legacy of love, humor, and the occasional eye roll lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Funeral services for Luisa will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Visiting hours are from 9:00-10:15an at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in the new Reservoir Cemetery, Center Street in Ludlow.
