Claudia Lukas passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2023, at the age of 22. Born in Springfield, MA, she was the beautiful daughter of Raymond and Laurie (Goldsmith) Lukas. Claudia also leaves behind her brothers Zachary and William; her grandmother Joan Goldsmith of Boothbay, ME; her aunts and uncles Craig and JoAnn Goldsmith of Amesbury, MA, Cindy and Geoffrey Stone of Boxford, MA (Jamison and Riley), Lauri and Jeremiah Hegarty of Osterville, MA (Jeremiah, Matthew, Jon and Christian), Jennifer and Douglas Shapiro of Longmeadow, MA (Alex and Olivia), John Fitzgerald of Newton, MA (Caroline), Joseph and Jenny Fitzgerald of Longmeadow, MA (Lily and June), Derek Ottani of Longmeadow, MA (Chloe and Jack) and the Ottani family as well as other beloved family members and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Raymond and Beverly Lukas; her grandfather Charles Goldsmith and her aunt and uncle Lynn and David Harvey.
Claudia attended Longmeadow High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and involved in many activities such as basketball, soccer, cross country, ultimate frisbee and was co-choreographer of the senior play. She graduated with high honors in 2019.
Claudia then pursued her passion for business at the UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Business where she was an active student as well as a Teacher’s Assistant her senior year. During her time in college, she spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy where her sense of adventure brought her to numerous countries and even hang gliding in the Swiss Alps. In 2023, she achieved the remarkable distinction of graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.
After graduating from college, she moved to Somerville to start her next chapter as a supply chain analyst at Clark’s in Needham, MA where she was beginning to flourish. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, sewing, photography, dancing, and getting together in the Boston area with family and friends. She frequented sporting events, concerts, karaoke bars, trivia nights, and much more.
From a very early age, Claudia was known for spreading joy and laughter to those around her. With her infectious smile, remarkable sense of humor, zest for life, and genuine warmth, she naturally created life-long friendships throughout her full but short life. May her spirit dance on in the memories we shared, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart deeply loved. Claudia will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow.
