Robert Wainstein
Greenfield, MA – Robert Wainstein passed away on November 27th at the age of 73 with his children by his side. He was a proud resident of Western Massachusetts, settling in Greenfield and spending all but two years of his life in the area, and would not have wanted it any differently.
He was a lawyer, Town Council Member, and on the board of the Temple Israel. After leaving the law, he taught life skills for students with different abilities, which he found deeply fulfilling. He was also adored for his humor, Rob-isms, and playful nature. Rob could be found solving the New York Times Sunday crossword, at the golf course, walking in Highland Park, and roasting endless coffee which he was ready to serve any way you like it.
He survived by his favorite children, Meira, Isaac, and daughter in law Jackie, as well as his sister Ronna Steigerwalt, and her husband Arnold Steigerwalt. He also leaves countless close friends, whom he built up over many walks of life. He joins his parents, Irving and Rose Wainstein.
There will be service at the Temple Israel Cemetery, 276 Log Plain Road East in Greenfield, Massachusetts, at 11am on December 1st with a gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent in his name to Turner’s Falls High School Life Skills Program (222 Turnpike Road, Montague, MA 01351).
