CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) — The first weekend in February was a nice one. Western Massachusetts had sunny skies, even if it was a little cold at some points. But, what are temperatures going to look like for the rest of this month?
The 22News Storm Team is working for you with a look at weather trends for February.
If we look at the country as a whole, the northern areas are going to be seeing warmer-than-average temperatures. What does that mean for New England? We will also be looking at warmer-than-average temperatures for February than we are used to seeing. This could potentially mean western Massachusetts will see less snow, and more rain if we so those warmer temperatures.
If we take a look at the monthly precipitation outlook with data from the Climate Prediction Center, we will be seeing dryer-than-average conditions in Massachusetts. While the western part of the country will be seeing wetter than average conditions.
That means for us here in western Massachusetts that we might not hit our winter average for snowfall this year. That could also mean we might not see as much rain in February either.
