National Pancake Day: Where to get the best pancakes in western Massachusetts


Get free pancakes at IHOP on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – National Pancake Day occurs every year at the end of February or the beginning of March to raise money for charity.

According to the National Day Calendar, IHOP created National Pancake Day back in 2006, and since then, the restaurant chain has raised close to $30 million for charities. On Tuesday, IHOP will be celebrating this day by offering free pancakes at their restaurants from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and guests are asked to consider leaving a donation.

Pancakes are also referred to as Johnnycakes, griddle cakes, or hotcakes, and date back more than 30,000 years. Pancakes might be the oldest breakfast food in history and can be enjoyed with whipped cream, maple syrup, butter, fruit, and berries.

If you want to celebrate but are not near an IHOP location, you can either make pancakes at home or try a local place. Yelp has put together a list of some of the best places to get pancakes in western Massachusetts.
