AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts saw some snow Tuesday morning, and it left the roads wet and slippery for those with a morning commute.
The winter snow storm started off with some flurries, and then the snow picked up throughout the morning, when it began to stick to certain areas on the ground. James of Agawam told 22News that he was expecting more snow but he says he is content that Agawam did not get that much snow, “I will take 3-6 you know for work and stuff but it’s not bad it’s not a bad winter so far.”
And while a snow day can be difficult for some people, others were able to take the day to stay home after work and schools across the Pioneer Valley were closed for the day. “I have the day off today, so I get to sleep in a little bit, enjoy this beautiful weather, go for a walk,” said melissa of Agawam.
Tuesday morning, visibility was not the best, so safety officials were advising drivers to drive slowly, leave the house early to get to their destinations, give some extra distance between other cars.
Tandem, tractor-trailer units that are empty, or have special permits, are not allowed to travel on the Mass. Pike from the New York State line to Boston. MassDOT has nearly 1,500 crews working to patrol and salt the roadways.
