Carol E Nagle
1942 – 2024
West Springfield
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister, noni and great noni, Carol Ellen Nagle. Carol fought a courageous battle against the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease with all she had. She passed peacefully on Wednesday morning. The longest goodbye.
Carol was born in Springfield MA, September 14, 1942, and was a lifelong resident of West Springfield, the youngest child of Edward and Angeline (DalPesce) Keating, both of whom predeceased her.
Carol worked at the old Shawmut Bank in Springfield for the Trust Department as an administrative assistant. She also worked as a paraprofessional for special needs children at the WSJHS for many years, until her retirement.
Carol was predeceased by a son, Patrick (1973), and her husband George (2019) of almost 60 years.
She leaves her 3 children Kathleen Archer (Lon Winchell), Kara Libby (David) and Brian Nagle (Erika), Five Grandchildren, Nicholas Archer (Deena Taddia), Patrick Archer (Ashely), Daniel Archer, Brendan Libby and her only precious granddaughter, Mary Katherine Nagle. Six Great Grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her only sibling, her sister Patricia Hanks with whom she shared a very close bond.
Family was very important to Carol. She found great joy in being with her many grandchildren. Carol loved to decorate her homes. She started a side hustle with her late friend, Del Kaveny, making tortellinis. She also assisted her husband at his store Unique Country Products in West Side and made beautiful gift baskets there with her designer’s eye!
In a family of competing funny people, she was the star! A quick wit and dry sense of humor, she would have you laughing in no time. Carol enjoyed dining out with friends and family and was an amazing cook. Carol loved hosting dinners at her home as well.
A special thank you to Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow for their compassionate care of our mother. A special thanks to Debbie Loubier for treating our mother like she was her own family. Debbie was a true angel.
Carol loved her family fiercely, especially her children. She was our glue. She will be forever missed and loved. The memories of our mother will live on in our hearts forever.
As Carol always liked to tell everybody “Anche questo passerà” This too shall pass. Until we meet again Mom may God hold you in his love and light. We all love you and are happy you are not suffering anymore. Carol’s Funeral Mass will be Thursday March 21 at 11:30AM from St Thomas Church 47 Pine St. W.Spfld. with calling hours from 10-11AM at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St W.Spfld.
