John Walsh, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on March 27, 2024 with his beloved family by his side following a long and courageously fought battle with pulmonary disease. John was born in Holyoke, MA, the son of the late John and Bertha (Wornier) Walsh. Along with his sister Marilyn, they were raised in a warm and loving family. After graduating from Holyoke High School in 1959 he enlisted with the US Navy. He was stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland where he was a member of the helicopter search and rescue team. Upon discharge, he resumed his education obtaining an accounting degree from AIC and his MBA from WNEU. He then earned his Massachusetts CPA certification and worked most of his career at the accounting firm of Myers Brothers Kalicka before establishing his own practice. A firm believer that it is important to give back to the world we live in, John was a past member of the Agawam Rotary and Agawam Lions Club, serving as treasurer and a term of president of both organizations. He also was a board member of the MA Lions Research Foundation and served as District Governor. Most recently John became a member of the Southwick Lions Club. John married his wife of 59 years Rosemary (Homon) in 1965 and together they had 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren. John will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife Rosemary; daughters and their families: Sharon and John Wilcox, Blair, Lindsey and Caroline; Kristine and David Dustin, Megan (Nic), Erin and Kate; Kimberley and Jerome Pitoniak, Matthew, Andrew and Samantha; and his beloved goldendoodle Zoey. Also left to remember John are his sister Marilyn Dorman; sister-in-law Ann (David) Kendrick; brother-in-law Kevin (Tia) Homon; as well as several nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and friends. Calling hours for John will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4-7PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam, MA. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, April 2nd at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
