Carolina goaltenders have limited the potent Bruins offense to two goals or less in two of their last three contests. The Hurricanes rank ahead of the Bruins on both sides of the ice in several key categories, with the Hurricanes’ defense topping out at third in the NHL in average goals allowed per game. Carolina has been excellent playing in front of the home crowd this season, winning there at a 65.8% clip. The Hurricanes have won four straight games at PNC Arena. Their defense has given up two goals or less in seven straight games at home. Carolina has won eight of their last 10 games overall. Boston has failed exceed three goals in three straight games. The trends strongly support a Carolina victory at home on Thursday evening.

Take the Hurricanes.

Prediction: Carolina -1.5 Goals

Full-Game Total Pick

Rating:

Four of the last five matchups between these two squads went under the goal total, with five pucks reaching the back of the net in their last game played earlier this year. Each team has failed to score more than four goals against each other in over two years. Both teams have elite defenses this season and both rank in the top 10 in the league in several key defensive categories, so the odds either team score quickly in bunches are lower than normal. Hurricanes goaltenders have limited their opponents to two goals or less three of their last four games overall and seven straight at PNC Arena. Carolina has gone under the goal total in four straight games. Boston has gone under the goal total in in four of five on the road and their offense has failed to exceed three goals in three straight away from their home stadium. Most signs point to a lower-scoring affair in Carolina on Thursday.

Take the under.

Prediction: Under 5.5 Goals
