Continued wintry mix across the state is closing schools in certain regions as precipitation continues to fall.
Forecast for the first week of April, meteorologists assured Massachusetts residents that the prediction of snow was no April Fool’s joke.
The April snowstorm was initially predicted to bring up to 12 inches of snow to the northern Berkshires and up to six inches of snow to the northern Worcester Hills. A further 6 to 8 inches could fall before Friday at 8 a.m. in those areas.
A winter storm warning remains in effect through 8 a.m. on Friday for large swaths of north Western Massachusetts and north Central Massachusetts, with a winter weather advisory covering many of the remaining regions of the state.
High wind warnings are in place across Cape Cod and all along coastal Massachusetts, including Gloucester, Boston and Plymouth, according to the National Weather Service.
