Born in Pittsfield on May 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Ernest G. and Lucille E. Collins Stone. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1969 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Stone was a meat cutter for Astro Beef for 9 years. He also was employed by Manning’s Livery Service for 10 years. In the 1970’s, he drove cabs for Yellow and Checker Cab and Limousine.
In the late 70’s and early 80’s, Carter was a member of the Albany area Bass Masters. He fished many tournaments in New York State. During the mid 1980’s he was the president of the Zodiac Bowling league at Ken’s Bowl in Pittsfield.
He was an avid New York Yankee fan and avid card player, with his favorite game being Poker. Carter was a member of the First United Methodist Church and loved to travel.
Mr. Stone is survived by his son, Eric R. Stone and companion Kristie Chapman of Pittsfield; daughter, Dawn Davenport and companion Sandy Spring of Pittsfield; brother, Clinton A. Stone and wife Teresa of AZ; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Craig, and Rexford Stone.
Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be held, Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet inside the cemetery gates at 10:45 a.m.
