Downtown performance sets the stage for upcoming Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The sounds of jazz music echoed throughout the city of Springfield Wednesday evening, kicking off the highly anticipated Jazz & Roots Festival later this week.

Music could be heard at One Financial Plaza where the night’s celebrations featured the jazz stylings of New Orleans musician Glen David Andrews. City and festival leaders also commemorated this major event that draws in thousands of music enthusiasts each year.

A diverse lineup of musical performances will be showcased during three days of music, art, and community building. Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival Executive Director & Co-founder Kristin Neville shared with 22News what to expect for this year’s festivities.

“We have been working really hard and we are excited to share some incredible music with you over the next couple of days. To share a celebration of community and diversity, arts & culture, and culture revitalization.”

Festival performances will officially begin this Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. The event is free for all who attend.
