Geraldine “Gerri” Moriarty of East Longmeadow passed away July 15, 2024, surrounded by family by her side.
She was born in Springfield February 8,1941the daughter of the late Lionel and Velia (Mantoni) Joaquin.
Gerri was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. Moriarty Sr., and a son, Thomas F. Moriarty, Jr.
She is survived by her son Daniel Moriarty and his wife Rosemarie of East Longmeadow and her three grandchildren Cole, Max and Jake. She also leaves a brother Lionel Joaquin and his wife Joyce of Westfield and cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and very close special friends.
She worked at STCC for many years, after graduating with her Masters from UMASS Amherst she worked as the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions at UMASS Amherst prior to retiring. She loved to travel the world to see other countries, read a good book as well as enjoying a good glass of wine. She also enjoyed her rug club and watching Jeopardy but most of all she cherished spending time with her three grandsons, who were her everything. From picking them up at school, going for walks, hearing of their accomplishments, receiving and sending texts, and most of all the board games they played together. She also enjoyed sneaking treats to her four-legged pal Apollo.
A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11AM at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, St. Claire Section, 1601 State St., Springfield.
Visitation will precede the services on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11AM at the funeral home.
