Bake sale at Chicopee church supports Ukrainian refugees
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – As the war rages on in Ukraine, communities in Western Massachusetts are continuing to show support.
Ukrainians that have been displaced and fled the country are in need. A church community in Chicopee is hosting a bake sale to help raise money.
The Grace Slavic Pentecostal Church is located at 5 Meadow Street. The bake sale will begin at 9 a.m. and run until everything is sold out. All proceeds will benefit Ukrainian relief efforts.
The war in Ukraine began in February. According to the U-N Refugee agency, 7.1 million Ukrainian people have been displaced by the crisis.
Five million have crossed the border to neighboring countries like Poland. This is not the first time the Grave Slavic Pentecostal Church had shown support for Ukraine.
If you can’t make it to today’s bake sale, you can still donate through the Church’s GoFundMe page.
The church also has an on-going donation drive to collect supplies to send back to the region. Some of those items are currently on route to Ukraine.
