Bell rings in a new season – Lowell Sun

Quiana Bell and Sydney Nelson provided ample firepower netting multiple goals as the U14 Lowell Girls Lacrosse team beat Beverly 9-8, May 1. With the win, the team improved to 3-1 on the season.

It was a total team effort on the offensive side of the ball with Quinn McDonald, Abby Torres, Kate Galvin and Meghan Lesniak, also garnering clutch goals. The team was anchored by a strong defensive unit that included Maddie Golden, Alanna Cohen, Sydney Brophy, Ariana Sotirakos and goaltender Julia Dunfey.

Lowell sets its sights on Lynnfield this weekend.

The Lowell Girls Youth Lacrosse program was in full swing with three other squads also competing in week 4 action, Sunday.

Tighe turns the trick

Sydney Tighe netted the hat trick scoring three goals as Lowell’s Grade 5/6 team beat Beverly 13-4.

The Raiders rocked the roost with Riley Peirce and Doree Ralls each potting a pair. Maura Tobin, Delaney Graham, Lily Zurkus, Erin Finn, Kelsey Hudon and Caitlin Ritchie also crashed the net scoring a baker’s dozen of goals. The team was bolstered but the strong work ethic of Emily Feeney, Angelina Poirier, Amalie Oworu and Maeve McManmon.

Grey ladies down

Despite some aggressive play garnering its fair share of ground balls, Lowell’s Grade 3-4 Grey team was beaten by Bedford 10-3.

Ella Saati, Lilah Hall and Penelope Ethem all scored for Lowell. Goaltender Sadie Ronan held the fort in the net.

Red Raider revival

The Lowell Grade 3-4 Red Raiders showed plenty of spunk in its game against Groton-Dunstable.

The team’s offense was sparked by Reese McKiernan and Skylar Nwaise. Goalie Cate Richardson made some key saves between the pipes. The young group continues to work hard to improve with each week.
