SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM): A line of thunderstorms brought damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and lightning to several towns and cities across western Mass last evening as a cold front approached New England.

The front is moving through this morning with some leftover clouds and mugginess, but our weather will improve as the day goes on. Temperatures this afternoon will be much cooler with highs in the mid to upper 70s with a mix of clouds and sun and a nice northerly breeze. It will be a delightful day for sure.

Tonight will be mainly clear and cool with temperatures falling into the 50’s.

A frontal boundary to our southwest will lift northeast tomorrow, bringing in more clouds and more humidity. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible tomorrow afternoon with the best chance being tomorrow night.

Our weather should improve quickly Friday with only a slight risk for a morning shower. Skies turn mostly sunny and we get a gusty northwest breeze to dry things out. Temperatures will top off in the 70’s with dew points falling into the 40’s. Readings will really cool off Friday night thanks to building high pressure. Temperatures fall into the 40s in some spots. This will set us up for a fantastic Saturday with a cool, crisp start and comfortably mild afternoon. High temperatures will top off in the mid to upper 70’s under a mostly sunny sky. It will feel more like September!! (The record low for Saturday morning, July 31st is 45 set in 1964)

Yet another front approaches Sunday with increasing clouds and humidity levels. Much of the day looks dry for now, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible later in the day and night as the front moves through. Temperatures stay in the 70’s with dew points on the rise. We get another shot of dry, comfortable and seasonably cool air early next week.
