Groton-Dunstable boys tennis tops Tyngsboro – Lowell Sun
Groton-Dunstable 4, Tyngsboro 1
Rohan Francis froze Jake Sheridan at first singles 8-2, as Groton-Dunstable took out Tyngsboro, Tuesday.
Zach Aster zapped Sal Miele at second singles 8-2, while Alex Caruso beat Colin Marruci at third singles 8-3, to clinch the victory. Groton-Dunstable’s first double unit of Josh Dai and Linus Brier also brought it edging Jeremy Huton and Trey Hartigan in an 8-6 battle. Tyngsboro’s Ian Burtan and Aiden Wood snapped the sweep bid, however, topping Jason Huang and Liam Toomey 8-6.
Ursuline Academy 5, Notre Dame 1
Elizabeth Beauregard recorded a 1 up win for the Lancers only point, as Notre Dame Academy lost to Ursuline.
Playing well for NDA were Lilly Golden, Ella Hanson and Gigi Neto.
Tyngsboro 16, St. Bernard 6
St. Bernard’s Josh Hoecker netted three goals and three assists in a 16-6 loss. Hunter Lammi levied a pair of goals, while Nick Tomczak added a goal and an assist.
Billerica 20, Tewksbury 4
Julia Trainor tallied 12 points, scoring six goals and six assists, as Billerica beat Tewksbury.
The Indians held a 9-4 edge at halftime fueled further by Sara MacLeod’s five goals, and a hat trick from Paige Murphy. Audrey Toce and Grace Leyne each added a pair. Delaney Burns, Sophia Jannoni and Keira MacKenzie, rounded out the goal-scoring barrage. Giovanna Gulinello, Maddy Vacaro and Mia Barros, each added assists.
Central Catholic 15, Lowell 4
Lowell’s Casey Mitchell potted a pair, as the Raiders fell to Central Catholic.
Jacqueline Peirce and Cate Shanahan provided the added firepower for Lowell. Goalie Sara Skaff made 10 saves.
Westford 3, Wachusett 0
Senior outside hitter Tejas Kudva had nine kills and four aces, as Westford shutout Wachusett.
The Ghosts won in straight sets 25-5, 25-6, 25-13.
Lowell Catholic 3, Essex Tech 0
John Nangle led the way with eight kills and five blocks, as the Crusaders (6-1) erased Essex Tech. LC ran the table winning in straight sets 25-23, 25-20, 25-21.
