Lowell Catholic tops Northeast Regional – Lowell Sun
Nick Sawyer rushed for over 200-yards, including a game-breaking 70-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, as Lowell Catholic topped Northeast Regional, 35-28.
A junior running back, Sawyer rushed for over 200-yards for the second straight week, guiding his team to victory.
Lowell Catholic 8th grader Kaden Silton threw two touchdown passes and ran in for a two-point conversion to help spearhead the attack early in the first half. Riley Nichols was also a major factor, scoring on a 35 TD pass, before delivering a 75-yard kick return.
Northeast quarterback CJ Moriconi had a great game rushing for four touchdowns, including a four-yard strike in the late in the game making things interesting. Freshmen Safety Tristan Yepdo killed any thoughts of a Voke comeback, however, causing a fumble which was recovered by Sophomore linebacker Dillon Eld, to end the threat.
Lowell Catholic started four freshmen, as well as Silton at QB, due to Covid and other reasons.
