Lowell gets by Dracut in Suburban Pony League


Lowell defeated Dracut, 9-8, on Friday in a nail-biter in Suburban Pony League 14/15 Division action at Shedd Park.

Starter Sean Scott threw four strong innings, striking out nine and giving up three runs to Dracut’s offense. Aiden Virella pitched two strong innings in relief, before Dracut’s offense rallied in the seventh to score five runs.

Scott and Virella also helped their cause at the plate. Scott singled twice, while Virella went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBI.

Kyle Jarek sparked Lowell’s offense late with a key sacrifice bunt to revive the team.

Jack Gallagher reached and scored twice on singles for Lowell, while driving in two. Seamus Scott went 2-for-4, driving in two runs on a double and triple, while scoring twice.


HOLE-IN-ONE  Freddie Powers aced the 127-yard ninth hole at Tewksbury Country Club, using a 9-iron.

The shot was witnessed by Aidan Powers, Dennis Lynch and Jason Lonano.
