Lowell’s Theo Booras honored as Hero by Boston Celtics – Lowell Sun
Lowell native Theo Booras was honored by the Boston Celtics as a Hero Among Us, Dec. 13 at TD Garden.
The Celtics paid tribute to Booras during a special halftime ceremony at center court, during the Celtics game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sponsored by the Massachusetts State Lottery and the Boston Celtics, the Hero Among Us tribute salutes local individuals for making a difference in the lives of countless individuals around the world in under-resourced communities. A local soccer coach, Booras founded United Through Football to bring sporting equipment and the resources needed to sustain electricity to impoverished communities in South America and Africa.
Since its establishment in 1997 by the Boston Celtics, The Heroes Among Us program has recognized outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to the heroic achievements of these outstanding citizens.
