Schaake buzzer-beating trey sinks Alvirne – Lowell Sun

Josh Schaake (seven points) came off a screen burying a game-winning trey with 0.3 seconds to go in the contest. Trailing 23-16 at halftime, the Broncos held a two-point lead up until that moment. Brendan Graham led Alvirne’s offense with 17 points. Joe Allen guided Winnacunnet with 17 points.
Essex 61, Innovation 41
Jaydis Gonzalez paced the IACS offense with 13 points, as the Hawks fall to 4-2 overall.
Derrick Twum tallied 12 points, three steals and a pair of assists. Jaden Ogbiede pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds six blocks. Lansana Kaimachiande also grabbed 10 boards, in front of a packed house.
Dracut 53, Everett 20
Junior guard Ashlee Talbot netted a team-high 11 points, as Dracut jumped out to a 28-5 lead in the first quarter. Junior guard MacKenzie Murphy (10 points) maintained the team’s momentum, as Dracut improves to 6-2.
Greater Lowell 48, Essex 21
Kaelynn Tanner tallied 12 points and four assists, as Greater Lowell evened its record at 4-4.
Alanis Velez (nine points), Felicia Melendez (eight) and Kendra O’Brien (six) helped drive the offense.
Central 59, Methuen 25
Ashley Dinges delivered a double-double for Central netting 22 points and adding 11 rebounds. Claire Finney provided finish with 14 points. Staunch defense from Leah Deleon (eight rebounds, three assists and three steals), sealed the victory.
Littleton 65, Lunenburg 35
Kaylin O’Meara scored 24 points, as Littleton improves to 7-1.
Victoria McCoy also made the plays potting 18 points.
Westford, 54, Newton South 34
Carly Davey led all scorers with 22 points, adding nine rebounds.
She was backed by the heady play of Kate Barnes (seven points, seven rebounds, four blocks), and Abby Chambers (eight points). Alanna Saunders assisted down low grabbing nine boards. With the win Coach Russ Coward’s club improves to 5-1 (6-2 overall) in the DCL. They travel to Lincoln-Sudbury next Friday.
