Trooper escorts mother in labor to Mercy Medical Center, healthy baby delivered | News
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM)– A Massachusetts State Police Trooper escorted a woman in labor to Mercy Medical Center Wednesday afternoon.
According to State Police, Jose Cabrera, who was assigned to the Springfield barracks pulled over a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour on I-91 southbound in West Springfield.
The driver explained to the the trooper that his girlfriend was in labor and her water broke.
Cabrera requested an ambulance and assisted in keeping the mother calm. After being informed that all nearby ambulances were actively responding to other calls, Cabrera quickly escorted the woman to the hospital in the back of his cruiser, with the father following behind.
The mother arrived safely to Mercy, where she delivered a healthy baby boy.
