Westford softball clips Chelmsford in extra innings – Lowell Sun


Senior April Collamore crushed a clutch double in the top of the seventh plating two runs, as the Westford softball team topped Chelmsford 4-3 in extra innings.
Maddie Haley scored two of her team’s four runs with some smart baserunning. Chelmsford slugger Zoey Moscato belted a pair of home runs over the fence, keeping the Lions within range. Ghost pitcher Ragini Kannan registered 14 strikeouts, backed by some stellar defense.

Shawsheen 18, Waltham 4
Freshman Alivia Imbimbo laced a triple, as Shawsheen Tech (3-1, 5-2 overall) defeated Waltham in non- league action.
Offensively, Shawsheen was paced by RBI hits from Emily Freitas, Jeyana Cronin and Chloe Gagliano. Pitcher Kayla Mirisola cruised through most of the contest scattered four hits and no walks, while fanning five. The Rams travel to Haverhill to take on Whittier in CAC League action on Tuesday, April 26. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

Pelham 12, Hanover 0

Molly Sauer recorded her first career shutout (five innings), as Pelham (2-4) blanked Hanover.

Pelham catcher Rylie Beisang powered the lineup going 4-for-4 with five RBI, while adding eight putouts.

Brooke Slaton laced an RBI single and scored two runs. Christina Louh also had a hit and score twice. The big bats of Bella Furtado, Lilly Furtado, Emily Roscoe, Nicole Shanteler, only added to the offense.

Pelham hosts Bow, Friday, April 29.

Hull 7, Lowell Catholic 6
Brady Prindle drilled a double knocking in two RBI, as Lowell Catholic was hung up by Hull.
The Crusaders got big efforts out of Danny Parent (hit, RBI, three runs) and Drew Prindle (double, sac fly, RBI). Pitcher Ryan Penrose was charged with the loss. Reliver Joe Farina surrendered two hits and four walks in five innings of work, fanning eight. Sean McNamara held Hull to two hits over 1.2 frames, walking one and fanning three.

Billerica 3. Methuen 1
Aiden Le led the offense, as Billerica (2-3, 2-6 overall) bumped off Methuen, Friday afternoon.
The junior outside hitter paced the attack with 19 assists, six service points and three kills. After splitting the first two sets 25-10, 23-25, the Indians mounted a more consistent attack rolling its opponent in the net two sets 25-17, 25-18, to take the match. Senior co-captains Ankush Patel and Ajay Bijlani loomed large with each leveling seven kills and two blocks. Junior outside hitter Ethan Cliff also got into the act chipping in six kills and five service points, four of which were aces.

Lexington 3, Central Catholic 0
Ryan McShan provided nine kills and a block, as Central Catholic (1-7) fell to Lexington.
The Minutemen won in straight sets 25-7, 25-18, 25-14. Central’s offense was sparked by Michael Nguyen 11 assists. Keith Shaheen scored four service points and an ace. Jaunjose Cabrera also chipped in with six digs.

Girls Lacrosse
Lowell 11, Greater Lowell Tech 6
Greater Lowell Tech’s Emma Finch fired two goals. Kaelynn Tanner, Athenna Mao, Emily Sandelli and Alani Cintron had the others. GLT goalie Davalyn Sanchez made 14 saves.

Oyster River 19, Newmarket, Alvirne 2

Mackenzie Cook netted a hat trick as Oyster River overpowered Alvirne, Friday afternoon.

Alvirne hung tough with goaltender Alexa Kruger making 10 saves and Jordan Sweeney’s outstanding defensive play. The Bronco’s got goals by Elsa Ferullo and Halle Miller, but they were unable to match Oyster River’s offensive firepower.
