Weekend weather turns cool with chance for showers

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Temperatures got into the 70s for Thursday but cooler weather is on the way for the weekend.

Temperatures have been above average the past few days with many seeing the 70s. This is because we have high pressure to our south that is lifting the jet stream and allowing warm air to be pumped in from the south.

Changes are on the way for the weekend though as an area of high pressure exits to our east on Friday afternoon/evening, it will cool temperatures down into the weekend and also have the chance for showers, especially on Sunday.

This is because low pressure will be moving in from the west behind this high pressure and will cause the jet stream to dip giving us cool and unsettled weather.

The weekend will not be a washout and Saturday should stay mostly dry with a better chance of showers on Sunday but of course, stay up to date with the 22News Storm Team Forecast.
